Uganda’s tourism earnings have doubled in the last five years from $440m to $800m last year, Cuthbert Baguma, the director of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), has said.
Baguma said this shows that the sector has enormous prospects for growth, employment and investment.
He, however, added that despite the fact that tourism has been identified as a priority for the development of the country, the sector remains constrained in financial and human resources.
“Destination competitiveness cannot be done when you do not have the right skills,” Baguma said.
